Double Time – The Launch!
What I particularly love about Double Time is the family involvement. The last time I stepped foot in a public gym was back in 2005. When my wife fell pregnant with our second daughter Sophie, I quit the gym and decided to commit to clearing out our garage. I’ve trained there ever since and it’s been a great way to fit in exercise around our busy lifestyles. My decision was based on it being selfish to disappear to the gym, there was just too much going on at home. One struggle to working out at home of course is the possibility of interruption. I can ignore telephones & knocks on the door, no problem. However, it’s very difficult to tell young children to ‘go away’ while you exercise. Let me translate that a bit further from a child’s perspective;
Why is Dad (or Mum) telling me to go away while they have fun jumping around?
Both our daughters have always been curious whenever they’ve seen us exercise, so Double Time already seems like a great idea. I’ve had a sneak peak via Beachbody on Demand and it looks great! I’ll post our own video of this when we try it out with Sophie! Check back again soon 😉
Here are some alarming UK based facts: (source gov.uk)
- Today nearly a third of children aged 2 to 15 are overweight or obese
- Younger generations are becoming obese at earlier ages and staying obese for longer
- Obese adults are seven times more likely to become a type 2 diabetic than adults of a healthy weight
- Not only are obese people more likely to get physical health conditions like heart disease, they are also more likely to be living with conditions like depression
Introducing Double Time
Double Time is the first 30-day partner workout program from Beachbody and Super Trainer Tony Horton. Designed with families in mind, it’s a fun way for you and a partner (like your spouse, a friend, or your kid) to exercise and eat healthy food as a team—all while sharing some one-on-one time! Double Time makes getting in shape feel more like play and less like work.
